Man conquers Bloodborne with a guitar controller

Video game streamer Bearzly, the man who breezed through both Dark Souls games with a guitar controller, has naturally brought his intentionally awkward controller challenges to the Souls' series spiritual successor Bloodborne. And like From's previous offerings, he's bested its harsh array of challenges.

This time out Bearzly used an Xbox 360 Rock Band guitar with the PS4 and remapped the controls to something like this:

As you can see, he moves his character with the guitar controller's gyroscopic sensor combined with the whammy bar. Camera movement is handled with that little slider thingy (sorry, I don't know what it's called), while attacks, healing, parrying, targeting and item usage are assigned to buttons along the controller's neck. As was the case with the Dark Souls games, the heavy attack button, R2, is not in play.

Prey dev's survival horror game Lost Within hits iOS and Fire devices

Last month Prey developer Human Head Studios announced a mobile horror game called Lost Within, which has just arrived this week on iOS and Android devices via Amazon Fire.

In development for more than a year, Lost Within represents Human Head's first new IP since Prey back in 2006. Of course, it was also working on the rather spiffy-looking Prey 2, before that was canned by publisher Bethesda.

Published by Amazon Game Studios, Lost Within is a survival-horror game with an emphasis on stealth and crafting. It's set in an insane asylum haunted by a "legendary serial killer" along with all manner of malevolent inhabitants.

Watch 2.5 minutes of Housemarque's Alienation in co-op

Housemarque, the studio behind Resogun and Super Stardust, has released 2.5 minutes of gameplay footage from its upcoming PS4-exclusive co-op twin-stick shooter Alienation.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, Alienation will have a huge emphasis on tactics and cooperation. It will feature three different character classes, "plenty of loot", and a "ton of weapon customisations".

"The number of different team set-ups is astronomical," Housemarque stated. "The first reaction to seeing the gameplay footage might feel a bit like confetti shot from a minigun (we like explosions), but the game actually relies heavily on tactical teamwork amidst all the chaos."

Battlefield: Hardline trumps Bloodborne in March US retail sales

Battlefield: Hardline was the best-selling game in US retail for the month of March, according to analyst group NPD.

Bloodborne came in second. Then again, Bloodborne also came out near the end of the month on 24th March, while Battlefield: Hardline was released a week earlier on the 17th. Hardline's also available on multiple consoles, whereas Bloodborne is exclusive to the PS4.

While Bloodborne did quite well, it didn't manage to set a record for PS4-exclusive titles, an honour still held by inFamous: Second Son. "The launch of Bloodborne ranked as second overall in software sales this month, but also has the second highest sales for the debut month of a first-party game on the PS4, after inFamous: Second Son, in March 2014," noted NPD Group's Liam Callahan.

F1 2015 will be 1080p on PS4, 900p on Xbox One

Codemasters' F1 2015, the studio's debut on the current generation of consoles, will be shooting for 60fps on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with Sony's console getting the 1080p treatment while Microsoft's gets 900p.

"On console we've had it very, very close to 60fps, certainly on PS4," F1 2015's game designer Steven Embling told Eurogamer. "Everyone at the studio is doing a fantastic with the optimisation, and we're in the final couple of months before release where there's a big push that we hit that 60fps, and that's the plan."

F1 2015 marks a slightly belated entry to the new generation for Codemasters as they've got to grips with the hardware. So why has it taken a while for this debut?

New Samorost 3 trailer is stupidly beautiful

Botanicula and Machinarium developer Amanita Design has revealed a new trailer for its upcoming point-and-click adventure Samorost 3.

Revealed way back in 2013, word on Samorost 3 had gone quiete for a while, but it appears to be right on track for its release later this year on PC, Mac, iOS and Android platforms.

Samarost was the Czech developer's first game from way back in 2003, long before the studio caught much attention in the public eye with Machinarium in 2009. It followed the adventures a space gnome trying to save his home asteroid from collision with another asteroid. It's browser-based and you can play the entirety of it for free right here.

Destiny data miners dig up two new social spaces

Destiny's data miners are at it again, this time digging into the recently released patch 1.1.2 to uncover plans for two new social spaces.

Reddit user ShdwFlm did the dirty work. We already knew expansion two, House of Wolves, would include a new social space set in the Reef. Now we know it's called Queen's Bay. This is where you'll collect Reef bounties and get your hands dirty with the new Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris activities.

But there's also mention of Halls of Amentet, which is described as a totally new social space that requires experience in Trials of Osiris. Current speculation suggests it's a small, three-player social hub.
